The church seems to be adrift, mimicking the world, rather than leading it. These questions need be addressed from a Scriptural perspective instead of personal opinions or denominational platforms. May you prayerfully consider God’s Word regarding these issues and stand bold for God’s Word. The answers below are brief, yet can easily be expanded: Scripture does not contradict, therefore where God speaks, Christians must agree or risk being in rebellion to our Lord. If we, the church are unwilling to obey God’s Word, why sould the world even consider such? The questions are not listed in order of relevance.

Matt 15:6b "...Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition."

Mark 7:7-9 "Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition."

That is not the correct question, instead ask, what did God mean by this Scripture?

2Pet 1:20-21 "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost."

2Tim 3:16-17 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works."

While Christians go to heaven once we die, it is only until God creates a new heaven and new earth where God will live on earth with mankind.

Phil 1:23 "For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:"

Eph 2:5-6 "Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:"

Rev 21:2-3 "And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God."

The Bible tells us not to co-sign: it does not make exceptions for family members or otherwise.

Prov 17:18 "A man void of understanding striketh hands, and becometh surety in the presence of his friend."

Prov 22:26-27 "Be not thou one of them that strike hands, or of them that are sureties for debts. If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?"

Abraham was the father of both Jews and Arabs: he was neither Arab or Jew. These people groups started with Abraham’s decedents and if Abraham had been a Jew or Arab, then only one of these people groups would exist. Arab's come from the decendents of Ishmael and Jews from the decendents of Isaac: Jacob, Isaac's son had his name changed by God to Israel.

Gen 17:18-21 "And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee! And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him. And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation. But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year."

Gen 35:10 "And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel."

Matt 7:12 "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets."
Matt 22:30 "For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven."
Ps 119:174 "I have longed for thy salvation, O LORD; and thy law is my delight."

Heb 5:12-14 "For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil."

The definition of the Greek word translated grace: graciousness (as gratifying), of manner or act (abstract or concrete; literal, figurative or spiritual; especially the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life; including gratitude)

The meaning of grace is gracious divine influence upon one's heart and it’s shown by God's influence in our lives: for more detail, see Grace Defined

The Greek word translated faith in this verse means: persuasion, that is, credence; moral conviction (of religious truth, or the truthfulness of God or a religious teacher), especially reliance upon Christ for salvation; abstractly constancy in such profession; by extension the system of religious (Gospel) truth itself:

Re-read the same verse with the actual meaning of faith inserted: Heb 11:1 Now faith (conviction of the truthfulness of God (His Word)) is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

God's reliability is our hope. This has nothing to do with our ability or power to believe.

We are to trust God’s Word as a child, who is learning about the world by trusting one's parents; it is not a blind trust of ignorance, rather confidence in the parent’s motive to help their child. God merely wants to help us live the best life we can while on earth awaiting the time we can live with God in person, the best life ever!

Matt 18:3-4 "And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven."

While Jesus marvelled at the great faith of the centurion, a non Jew, Jesus also said, small faith, the size of a mustard seed, is powerful and able to do great things! It’s not the amount of faith one has, but who that faith is in. Focusing on one’s amount of faith, focuses on one’s ability to believe something instead of God’s ability to do the thing asked.

Matt 8:10 "When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel."

Matt 17:20 "And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you."

Matt 21:21 "Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done."

Luke 17:6 "And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you."

God’s culture is the standard by which all other cultural standards will be judged.

John 18:36 "Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence."

Rom 12:2 "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

1Cor 2:6-8 "Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory."

While an adult cannot be forced by parents contrary to the law of the land to obey Scripture, the family authority structure issued by God is not the same as that of mankind.

Gen 2:24 "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh."

Matt 19:4-5 "And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?"

Mark 10:6-7 "But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;"

Eph 5:31 "For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh."

Christians are to live within God’s authority structure: since Christians should remain with their parents until marriage (see question 14), they are to obey them until they move to the next authority structure designed by God (marriage).

Col 3:20 "Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord."

Eph 6:1 "Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right."

An Old Testament example of 10% tithe prior to God’s establishment of the law is used as basis for the New Testament standard, yet each time period, New and Old, have uniqueness. We are to use Scripture, not past experience, as basis for our decisions. For a detailed answer see Biblical tithing is not 10%

Heb 7:1-2 "For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;"

1Cor 16:1-2 "Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye. Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come."

2Cor 9:6-7 "But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver."

Rom 10:9-10 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

According to Rom 10:9-10, salvation is a byproduct or outcome of two things:

1) Accepting Christ as Lord.

2) Sincere belief God rasied Jesus from the dead.

This would falsely imply freewill is limited after salvation.

2Pet 2:15,20,21 "Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;... For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them."

Heb 6:4-6 "For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame."

Heb 3:12 "Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God."

Col 1:23 "If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;"

John 8:31 "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;"

Matt 13:20-21 "But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended."

Mark 4:16-17 "And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended."

The word offend in Mt and Mk is Strong's G4624: To “scandalize”; from G4625; to entrap, that is, trip up (figuratively stumble [transitively] or entice to sin, apostasy or displeasure).

The word apostasy means to abandon what one professed prior; total desertion.

Heb 10:26 "For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins"

1John 1:5 "This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all."
The danger of categorizing sin causes us to feel better about ourselves and more judgmental of those doing more horrific sins than ours, yet God sends liars (“little sin”) to hell. While some sins carry harsher judgement from God, all sin is judged by Him: either one will pay the price for their sin or one accepts Jesus’ substitutionary payment for their sin.

Rev 21:8 "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

John 19:11 "Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin."

1John 4:10 "Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins."

Christ is both man, by His birth via Mary, and God, the second person of the trinity, yet while on earth He acted only in His humanity relying on God for all things. While His disciples thought Jesus knew all, Jesus said He did not. For more detail, see the booklet "Christ the Man."

God did Jesus's miricles, not Jesus:

Acts 2:22 "Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:"

John 5:19,30 "Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise... I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me."

John 14:10 "Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works."

Jesus did not know all things:

John 16:29-30 "His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb. Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God."

Mark 13:32 "But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father."

Jesus, while God, limited Himself to the abilites of a man:

Phil 2:5-7 "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:"

The word reputation is the Strong's G2758 from G2756 to make empty, that is, (figuratively) to abase, neutralize, falsify:—make (of none effect, of no reputation, void), be in vain.

Thus meaning Jesus limited Himself, He could not act as God while being God, and had to reply completely on God the Father for all things, including the miricles done by Him, which was the Father acting throught Him.

Eph 4:11-13 "And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ"

1Cor 13:8-10 "Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away."

Some believe the word perfect refers to the completion of the Bible and thereby believe some gifts ended when the Scripture was completed, however, the word perfect in both Eph 4:13 and 1Cor 13:10 is Strong's G5046 From G5056; complete (in various applications of labor, growth, mental and moral character, etc.); neuter (as noun, with G3588) completeness:—of full age, man, perfect.

The word perfect means complete. Since Scripture interpets itself and the word perfect is in both verses, it cannot mean the completion of the Bible. Eph 4:13 says Christians will all come to unity in the faith, which did not happen when the Bible was completed, still has not happen upto today and will only happen after the return of Chrsit.

Furthermore, 1Cor 14 gives instruction to the church how to manage worship services, which may include the usage the gifts of tongues and prophets.

I do not know of any Spiritual gifts that have been revoked. Jesus even said, Christians shall do greater works than He did. This being possible becaues God, not Jesus, did the works of Christ, see question #22; in the same way, since pentecost, the Holy Spirit does works through believers.

Mark 16:17-18 "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."

This is not a license to test God and purposely drink posions or do otherwise foolish things; we are not to test God except in giving tithe:

Matt 4:7 "Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God."

Mal 3:10 "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it."

The word prove is Strong's H974 A primitive root; to test (especially metals); generally and figuratively to investigate:—examine, prove, tempt, try (trial).

John 14:12 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father."

Mark 6:5-6 "And he [Jesus] could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. And he [Jesus] marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching."

If Jesus' miricles were limited by others unbelief, then the same or our own unbelief would limit mircles today

Heb 2:4 "God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?"

1Cor 2:4 "And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:"

Eph 3:19-20 "And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,"

John 14:15 "If ye love me, keep my commandments."

John 14:21,23 "He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him... Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him."

Luke 9:23 "And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me."

Hos 4:6 "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children."

2Chr 7:14 "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

Col 2:8 "Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ."

All believers are given spiritual gifts by God without respect of person, but God places limits on using those gifts. Scripture interpets itself and does not contradict itself. Thereby we know that women may have the gift of prophesy or teaching, but must use it within the limits outlined in Scriptrue. Further, men cannot authorize women to function outside the limits of Scripture or they would be violating Scripture and cause the women to also.

1Cor 11:4-15 "Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels. Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God. Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered? Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering."

1Cor 14:34-35 "Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church."

1Tim 2:10-15 "But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety."

Titus 2:3-5 "The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed."

Further, men cannot authorize women to function outside the limits of Scripture or they would be violating Scripture and cause the women to also.

Motive, motive, motive: when doing something for God or otherwise, motive is key. The commands in Scripture are the same regardless of one's motive. If I obey Scripture to earn God's favor, that is legalism; if I follow the same command becuase God saved me and it's an act of love and appreaciation, it's not legalism. Christians understand no one can earn God's favor and do good works out of love and gratefullness as an act of worshiping God, knowing heaven is not conditioned on my deeds, rather Jesus' imputed righteousness given to me freely by God.

Read Rom 6-8 for more detail: chapter 6 is our postion in Christ, we are dead to the power of sin; chapter 7 is our struggle with sin (the old self vs the new self) and chapter 8 is the power over sin through the Holy Spirit living within every believer.

While on earth believers will never become sinless, however, we can sin less and we can stop doing some sins we once did.

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit... God looks at our motives: if the motives for birth-control are the same as motives for abortion, then both are guilty of the same.

God knows and addresses heart motives, stating motives equal actions:

If lust is adultry and hate is murder then birth-control is abortion from the heart.

God controls the womb

God's perspective regarding children

Churches have always been tax free in America, yet most today are setup as 501c corporations to give the givers a reward for giving – a tax write off. Assuming no income limits and a 50% tax bracket, a $100,000 income, if tithed at 10% is $10,000 donation, of which half is a write-off, not a tax credit. Thus the giver has lowered the taxable income by $2,500! At what price? Churches cannot be vocal in politics! Now assume the average Christian makes the average American income, about $30,000, with a tax bracket of 15% over $6,000 (2012) and tithes 10%, $3,000. Half is allowed as a write-off which reduces taxes by $225 (15% of half the 3k). The average Christian worker has sold their voice as a group, the church, for only $225 each a year!

What of the motive for giving? If we give to get (a tax write-off), are we giving? True gifts are given with no strings attached!

What of the principle in God's Word to keep our giving a secret! While it directly applies to giving to the poor, a wider application can apply to any giving.

Matt 6:1-4 "Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly."

1Cor 14:29-33 "Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge. If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace. The heart issue is Creation vs Evolution, the authority of man vs God and the inerrancy of Scripture. Scripture interpets itself: context is king.

Scripture confirms the literal six day creation recorded in Genesis

Exod 20:11 "For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it."

The word day in Genesis can be used as daylight for 12 hours, a literal 24 hours or a period of time identified by associated terms in the text. To know which meaning is used, note the associated terms: the days are numbered and evening and morning is used in chapter 1 to confirm 24 hour days while chapter 2 uses day as a time period with its associated term generations.

Many have been indoctrinaed with evolution and are under the impression evolution is scientific, thereby the Bible is considered faith based and in opposition to science. The truth is both Evolution and Creation are faith based: to be scientific, something must be testable, observable and repeatable. While reverencing God is important and at times the meaning of revence and fear are used in conjuntion, do not be foolish to think reverence replaces fear:

While unity is important, without sound doctrine there is nothing to unify us. Learning and appling doctrine brings unity by bring us to God's common standard. Frankly, there can be no unity without agreement to sound doctine. Doctrine teaches us about our faith and how to live it.

Rom 16:17 "Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them."

Eph 4:14 "That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;"

Context is king: while Mt 7:1 is often used to say, don't judge others, Mt 7:5 says, deal with yourself so you will be able to help others deal with themselves. Further Mt 7:2 tells us how to judge, use the manner you want done to you and Mt 7:4 says, if you refuse to deal with yourself, you cannot see clearly to aid others. Therefore, Mt 7:1 means don't judge IF you're not dealing with yourself or you'll be a useless hypocrite. Mt 7:24 confirms we are to judge, but rightly and 1Cor 6:3 says we should know how to deal with things of this world, we will one day judge angels, while Rom2:1 warns we if we judge, we also condemn ourselves because we are guilty of the same or worse. We are not to condemn, rather correct, there is a big difference!

Matt 7:1-5 "Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? God knows why and that we are asking Him to get them. If done in selfishness, so they suffer for what they did to us, we void the request. If we do good because God asks us to be kind to our enemies and we are sincerely meeting their needs and we are content regardless of whether God blesses them or punishes them, we have a pure movite and God will act.

Ps 44:21 "Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart."

Gal 6:7 "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."

Jas 4:3 "Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts."

While it applies to any sin, I've been asked this question too many times when it applies to sex: I'm asked, how far can I go?

While God does say He hates sinners, as noted in the below verses,God has provided a way of escape: Rom 10:9-10 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

Deut 25:16 "For all that do such things, and all that do unrighteously, are an abomination unto the LORD thy God."

Ps 5:4-5 "For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee. The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity."

Prov 16:5 "Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished."

Prov 22:14 "The mouth of strange women is a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall therein."

Rom 9:11-13 "(For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;) It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger. As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated."

The whole Bible was written by God through men moved by the Holy Spirit, thereby all Scripture has equal importance; the red letter passages are merely direct quotes of God while He was on earth in the likeness of man.

Deacons are to be spiritual, fully commited Chrisitains and with qualified character, whose purpose is to serve by doing the busy work of the church: tasks that free up leaders to study, such as, but not limited to, visitations, visiting and aiding the ill, maintainance and so on.

Deacon is Strong's G1249 Probably from (obsolete, to run on errands; compare G1377); an attendant, that is, (generally) a waiter (at table or in other menial duties).

Salavtion in the NT looks back at the work, faith and righteousness of Christ, which is imputed upon believers apart from our works, while salvation in the OT looked forward to the same, believing God's deliverer would come.

John 6:63 "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life."

Rom 8:11 "But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you."

Eph 2:1,4-9 "And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins... But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. Eph 1:3-5 "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,"

Blessings and curses in life, sometimes due to our own actions, do come from God, read Deut 28, but God does not promise health, wealth and prosperity to believers. Blessings can come from a godly life, however, so can great suffering! God gives both good and bad to both the good and bad; if you serve God for a reward, what value is your service?

Matt 5:45 "That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust."

Ps 73:3 "For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked."

Eccl 7:14 "In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider: God also hath set the one over against the other, to the end that man should find nothing after him."

Ps 1:1-3 "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper."

Acts 14:22 "Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God."

2Tim 3:12-15 "Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. Prov 28:13 "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy."
Jas 5:16 "Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."

Prov 14:15 "The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going."

God's standards for ministers is high, but no where in Scripture does God require advanced education. God's standard for servers is high too. God uses common people to do extraordinary things.

1Sam 16:6-7 "And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the LORD'S anointed is before him. But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart."

Acts 6:3 "Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business."

Titus 1:5-9 "For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee: If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly. Job 5:8-9;9:10 "I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause: Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number... Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number."

All believers have the same anointing of the Holy Spirit from the time of salvation.

1John 2:20,27 "But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things... But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him."

2Cor 1:21 "Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God;"

Rom 8:9 "But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his."

1Cor 3:16 "Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?"

Gal 4:6 "And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father."

2Tim 1:14 "That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us."

1John 3:24 "And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us."

We pray to talk to God; we read Scripture for God to talk to us.
